National FASD welcomes new team members
Despite being a challenging year worldwide, 2021 has been an amazing period of growth for us here at National FASD, and riding the wave of progress, we’ve been able to welcome two new members to our team.
Sue Sharp joined us in May 2021 as our new Executive Assistant/Office Manager and has quickly been able to make a huge contribution to our day-to-day operations and continued growth. Sue is a former civil servant and family business owner.
In 2012, Sue became a foster carer alongside her husband, and they now care for twin boys with FASD. She is also a long-time advocate for FASD education and support in her local area as well as being Club Coordinator of the Hertfordshire & Area FASD Support Network.
Sue had this to say about her new role:
“I am really pleased to bring my skills and experience to help National FASD. I am drawn to the organisation because it’s so positive in all that it does. It’s especially exciting to help facilitate getting all the new resources out there where they can make a difference.”
In June this year, we were also joined by Scott Blackburn. The son of a leading FASD researcher, Scott brings a personal connection with the subject to his new role as Social Media Coordinator.
Scott’s previous experience lies in content marketing across both agency and in-house environments, and he’s committed to helping National FASD make a difference.
“I leaped at the opportunity to join the National FASD team. I was already aware of the amazing work they do and wanted to help commit my experience to helping them reach even more people. The Prevention Project is especially exciting and I look forward to working with the PR team and other experts to spread awareness of the risks of alcohol in pregnancy to 15-25 year olds.” Scott said.
“I feel I’ve joined the team at a really exciting time and am looking forward to seeing where our development takes us!”
With the new NICE Quality Standards coming later this year, our new additions will help us leverage increased medical focus on FASD to spread awareness, education and support.
Our Chief Executive, Sandra Butcher, was delighted to grow the National FASD team:
“All of us at National FASD are thrilled that Sue and Scott have come on board. Their impact is already reverberating through our organisation as they add to the skills we have on staff and bring their energy and fresh ideas at such an exciting time of growth. Watch this space! Great things are happening at National FASD.”
National FASD is grateful to The Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust for making these new hires possible.
